Dance Classes

Our aerial arts gyms feature adult aerial classes for those who are just starting and those who have experience. We teach aerial silks, dance trapeze, lyra (hoop), sling (hammock), straps, rope, cyr wheel, aerial partnering, and more! We have apparatus specific, and mixed apparatus classes at various levels. All our adult specific classes are run in 10 week session blocks (see our reasoning for this, below! PS – you’ll get more out of it!). We have a North Denver location and a Centennial location!

We are proud to be the only aerial studio in Denver that is Safety Recognized by the American Circus Educator’s (ACE), Safety Program.

Adult Aerial Beginner?

If you are brand new or have limited experience, please start in any of our level 1 aerial classes. These are geared towards beginners. You do not need any experience or level of fitness/flexibility to join! We work with all ages and all bodies. Aerial is for every-body! Generally, students stay in level 1 for a few sessions while they build up strength and endurance that is necessary for level 2. We have a variety of level 1 options including silks only, lyra only, and mixed apparatus. In the mixed apparatus classes you’ll learn silks, trapeze, lyra, and sling.

Aerial Classes for adults
Have Experience?

We offer a variety of intermediate and advanced adult aerial classes (levels 2, 3, and 4).

These include solo apparatuses classes in:

Why ten week sessions?

We teach in a progressive manner where student’s learn more, and quicker, with a group of peers! Drop in classes are difficult to maintain an appropriate curriculum that is new and challenging for everyone as there can be different people in class every week with this model.

Drop in classes? Adults are welcome to do our Saturday drop in silks class (all ages, mixed level), but being with a group of peers in a session is highly recommended if you’re interested in more quickly developing skills due to the consistency of class size and participants. Late registration in the session is available.  Email us for pro-rate/availability.

We also have classes for Youth, Pre-Teen, Teen, and Aerial Dance Camps.

FAQs

Absolutely! Aerial Cirque Over Denver offers beginner aerial silks classes for adults with no previous experience. Our Level 1 classes introduce foundational skills in a supportive environment, with no gymnastics or dance background required. Beginners can choose aerial silks-focused classes or explore multiple apparatuses in our introductory aerial program.

Not at all! You don’t need upper-body strength, exceptional flexibility, or previous fitness training to begin aerial arts. Our beginner classes help students gradually build strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence. We welcome adults of all body types and fitness backgrounds, and we don’t have a weight limit. At ACOD, aerial is for every body!

Each aerial apparatus offers a unique experience! Aerial silks use two long fabric panels for climbing, wrapping, and creating shapes in the air. Lyra (aerial hoop) is a suspended circular metal apparatus, while trapeze features a horizontal bar suspended by ropes. Sling (aerial hammock) uses a fabric loop that supports your body. Our beginner multi-apparatus classes let you experience all four!

Yes! Adults can learn dance trapeze at Aerial Cirque Over Denver, even without previous aerial experience. Beginners are introduced to trapeze in our Level 1 multi-apparatus classes, alongside silks, lyra, and sling. More specialized trapeze training is available for experienced students.

Yes! Aerial hoop, also known as lyra, is a popular choice for adult beginners. Our Level 1 lyra classes introduce basic mounts, poses, transitions, and technique while helping students develop strength and body awareness. Beginners can also explore lyra as part of our multi-apparatus aerial classes. No previous aerial experience is needed!

Although both use suspended fabric, aerial silks and aerial yoga are different disciplines. Aerial silks focuses on learning climbs, wraps, poses, and aerial sequences using two lengths of fabric. Aerial yoga generally uses a hammock to support yoga-inspired poses, stretching, and movement. ACOD specializes in aerial arts training and also offers aerial yoga classes when instructor availability permits.

If you’re new to aerial arts, start with a Level 1 class! Our multi-apparatus option is ideal for beginners who want to explore silks, trapeze, lyra, and sling before choosing a favorite. If you’re particularly interested in aerial silks or lyra, consider an apparatus-specific Level 1 class. We offer adult classes from Level 1 (beginner) through Level 4 (advanced), with progression based on demonstrated skills rather than time spent in class.

Our 10-week sessions provide a structured, progressive learning experience. Rather than starting over with different students each week, you’ll build on previously learned skills alongside a consistent group of classmates. This approach allows our coaches to introduce new techniques gradually, provide individualized instruction, and support meaningful progress in strength, technique, and confidence.

Yes! ACOD offers Saturday drop-in aerial classes at our Denver, Centennial, & Golden studios. These classes are an opportunity to experience aerial arts before enrolling in a 10-week session. Drop-ins may include students of different ages and experience levels, so we recommend our dedicated adult sessions for anyone interested in consistent, progressive training.

Aerial arts involve inherent risks, which is why safety is central to our instruction. Aerial Cirque Over Denver is the only aerial studio in the Denver metro area recognized by the American Circus Educators (ACE) Safety Program. Our safety practices include professionally engineered rigging, 8-inch crash mats, small class sizes, and progressive skill development with qualified instructors.
